ADA COMPLIANCE MADE EASY
Welcome!
We’re glad you’re here.
This website is dedicated to access, dignity, and inclusion. We believe everyone deserves to enter, use, and feel welcome in public spaces—regardless of disability. Whether you’re a business owner, advocate, evaluator, or community member, you’re in the right place.
Here, you’ll find tools and information designed to make accessibility clear, practical, and achievable. Our goal is not just compliance, but understanding—because real accessibility starts when people know why it matters and how to make it happen.
Thank you for being part of the movement toward a more accessible world.
What Is the Compliance Assessment Toolkit?
The Compliance Assessment Toolkit, commonly called ADA-CAT, is a hands-on system used to evaluate physical accessibility in buildings and public spaces based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA-ABA accessibility standards .
Simply put, it helps answer one important question:
“Is this place actually accessible?”
What Makes ADA-CAT Different?
ADA-CAT is designed so that people do not need advanced training to assess accessibility . Instead of complicated math or guesswork, the toolkit uses simple pass-or-fail measurements that clearly show whether a feature meets ADA requirements.
The toolkit includes specialized tools such as:
-
Measuring devices for ramps, slopes, and level changes
-
Tools to check door opening force
-
Meters for light and sound levels
-
Devices for signage, handrails, drinking fountains, controls, and paths of travel
Each tool is chosen or designed to reflect real-world barriers experienced by people with disabilities, including wheelchair users, people with low vision, limited hand strength, or hearing differences.
What the Toolkit Does — and Does Not Do
ADA-CAT:
-
Measures whether a feature is accessible
-
Compares it to ADA standards
-
Provides clear documentation of barriers and compliance
ADA-CAT does not decide:
-
Which features are legally required in every building
-
How fast fixes must be made
-
Whether partial access is “good enough”
The ADA itself defines minimum requirements—and legally, 100% compliance is the standard .
Why Partial Accessibility Still Matters
While full accessibility is the goal, ADA-CAT recognizes that different barriers affect different people. A space that works for someone who is deaf may still block a wheelchair user, and vice versa.
Because of this, ADA-CAT allows for targeted audits—assessments focused on specific disability needs. This helps organizations:
-
Create step-by-step improvement plans
-
Prioritize fixes that provide real access
-
Track progress over time
Our Commitment
Accessibility is not just a checklist—it’s a commitment to human dignity. The Compliance Assessment Toolkit helps turn that commitment into action by making accessibility measurable, understandable, and achievable.
We’re honored to share this work with you.
