What Is the Compliance Assessment Toolkit?

The Compliance Assessment Toolkit, commonly called ADA-CAT, is a hands-on system used to evaluate physical accessibility in buildings and public spaces based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA-ABA accessibility standards .

Simply put, it helps answer one important question:

“Is this place actually accessible?”

What Makes ADA-CAT Different?

ADA-CAT is designed so that people do not need advanced training to assess accessibility . Instead of complicated math or guesswork, the toolkit uses simple pass-or-fail measurements that clearly show whether a feature meets ADA requirements.

The toolkit includes specialized tools such as:

• Measuring devices for ramps, slopes, and level changes

• Tools to check door opening force

• Meters for light and sound levels

• Devices for signage, handrails, drinking fountains, controls, and paths of travel
